I'm still here!!
Glad to see I still have my followers!! LOL and I'm still running!
I've been so busy with school and we just got back from leave, so I will probably make a post tomorrow or really soon!
Hope everyone is doing well! :)
I bought new running shoes that I haven't ran in yet because I am now sick, (probably from being in freezing cold WI for 2 weeks lol), so I'm super excited to get better and run! haha

All the things from yesterday during my 5 mile run.
First I wanted to mention how I changed my blog name, lol. The "One milers + other things" was just because I couldn't think of or find anything clever. Well I found the quote "A healthy runner is a happy runner" and thought it totally fit my blog and who I am. It seems weird just changing the name of my blog like that but oh well! It'll never be changed again! lol.
Hmmm I think I had something to say about my Vibrams... um oh yes, I love my switch off idea I mentioned in an earlier post. The vibrams or barefeet running really do strengthen your muscles so much, I've been wearing my regular shoes on colder days and when I run in them, since there's so much cushion and warmth and all that, I find that it is super easy to run in the them after running in the Vibrams for so long, and I think that may have been why I knocked 15 minutes off my 5 miler. Just because of more built of muscle from wearing the Vibrams. My husband's combatives instructor (or whoever he is) runs marathons and was telling him about his experience running it in the Vibrams and how after awhile he had lowered his time by a lot (I forget how much but it was a good chunk). I feel like at first it is harder to run in the Vibrams (or barefoot) but only because it's working your muscles and making you become a better runner. So even though I can't go as fast in them yet as my regular shoes, I know after a while I most likely will. But I only run in my regular shoes better and faster because of running in the Vibrams. Does that make sense? lol
Geez I had so much more to say but I really forgot.
OH wait! One thing I realized about running is that it makes me absolutely love hot showers. Not that I'm a dirty person, but I never like taking showers, especially hot ones LOL. I just hated getting all wet and getting out into coldness and drying my hair, ugh what a drag. But now, I can't WAIT to get into a hot shower! it's so rejuvenating or something! So it definitely ties in with the running, running feels so good afterwards and then you get to top it off with hotness. Ah. Love it.
Oh yeah! I also ran a total of 20 miles last week! So exciting! I also realized last night that although I do feel tired and sleepy after running, after a couple of hours when I get past the tiredness, I am so much more pumped and energized. I even am so energized my husband gets annoyed, haha! Just like when you were a kid and you'd be so hyper and talkative and your parents would be like .. please please just settle down. lol!
But anyway, any suggestions on the tiredy, weak feeling after a long(er) run? I make sure I eat a good breakfast like an hour before because I learned that when I don't, I definitely feel like I'll pass out. Or is that just how it is?
P.S. does anyone know if there's a blogger app for the Iphone? so that I can post pictures so much easier like how it is on facebook? I literally had to sync 1,700 + pictures onto my computer just to be able to get the ones I posted off of it, lol felt like it took 5 hours.
Before my run, feeling pumped and cute
My favorite running buddy and I
Ok! so I TOTALLY wanted to update yesterday's run yesterday but I was way too busy.
I ran 5 miles with my hubby and dog and got a new PR (lol now that I know what it means)!! 45 minutes! :D I was so happy because it wasn't even a goal, and although I could somewhat tell I was going faster because it was becoming a little painful, I just did it anyway. I felt good realizing I was pushing myself and my husband was really proud of me.
(I should have written this yesterday because I forgot all the things I wanted to say!)
Anyway, the last mile of the run my right knee started hurting SO BAD. Which, it usually does that's why I usually keep a slower pace all the time because I'd rather enjoy the run than work on speed and have my need hurt. dang knee. Any suggestions? One of my running buddies said it was some tendon that goes on both sides (since I showed her it was on the right side of my knee) and that her doctor told her when she had it to do a certain leg workout (forgot what it's called) to build up that muscle, which I do, do! but haven't in a while. So I'll definitely try that out, since it was the same spot as she used to have it, and ice it.
So after my painful knee 5 miler, I. was. so. sick. I have never felt so sick in my life other than actually having the stomach flu which I haven't had in like 10 years. Omg. I thought I was going to vomit everywhere! and I couldn't stop coughing all the way home! lol! I didn't feel that bad while I was running but, wow. amazing. I definitely pushed myself. It may not have been smart? but hey I'm fine now and I felt GREAT! after the coughing and nausea went away that is, lol.

New run spot + hills!
Have a new running buddy for the week other than my hubby. She showed me a different, more scenic and longer park to run at, it was SO nice. It's 2 1/2 miles around which makes it SO much easier than the other park which is 2 laps to make 1 mile, ugh that gets so boring!
Soooo!! We ran 4 miles together and then afterwards did a lot of running up a steep hill, it was so fun. I am so proud of myself, I can't believe I've ran 9 miles since Monday and ALL I KEEP THINKING ABOUT IS DOING MORE!! I literally cannot believe I ever hated running or never did it! Well I've always been sort of athletic, you know, did sports in grade school, track in middle school (but only sprinting!!) and then I don't know what happened in highschool. And now, it's all I think about. I get so excited the night before a planned run that I can't sleep!
Oh!! and I wrote before that we are signed up for the Holiday Dash 5k on the 18th, and then I also found a 5k on new years day! the Resolution Run! sounds so fun, it's at 11 am of course, though, room to sleep in after new years eve! I AM JUST SO EXCITED!!! LOL
Also, since it's getting cold out I no longer can run in my Vibrams outdoors, it's just too uncomfortable for me, but I realized today running in my Nike's that I can run so much easier now after training in the Vibrams and just building up the muscles in my feet and shins/calves etc. The switch off is a good idea, train in my Vibrams indoors and then run outside in regular running shoes. Cooool!! Plus the Vibrams totally helped my form.
I've been doing so good with "becoming" a runner that now my husband is excited to become a runner and do all the running things as well lol, even though he's already a runner and can run a lot further and faster than me, but you know, actually get EXCITED and pumped about it!
Really wish I knew how to do more on this blog, lol. I want to switch the design but when I go to do it, the thingy preview is just a white blank screen part? Is anybody else's doing it?
Oh ANNNDDD... back home my husband was doing brazilian jiu-jitsu, and he wants to start back up again except this time I GET TO DO IT TOO!!

RAN 5 MILES TODAY!!!
RAN 5 MILES THIS MORNING AND I AM SOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!
Woke up this morning not even feeling like running, then told myself "you know you're going to feel absolutely marvelous afterwards" then debated whether to run at the park with my iphone and new iphone holder or go on the treadmill and watch cable television (since we don't have cable).
The treadmill won and it turned out to be GREAT because I watched a whole episode of CSI and just RAN. lol, omg I've never ran so much in my entire life. It is the best. I feel the best. I am so excited to run more and more!!!
I ran at about a 12 minute pace. Which was perfectly fine!! As long as I feel comfortable running 5 straight whole miles that is beyond good enough for me. My husband laughed when I said it took an hour LOL, but hey! at least I did it, right?!

Officially signed up for my first 5k!!
I can't wait for December 18th to do my first 5k!! The sign up wasn't available until a couple days ago, it's on post, the Holiday Dash!! lol I am so excited.
So hmm let's see I haven't been on in a couple days-
-Thanksgiving was DELICIOUS, spent it at a friends house, fun fun fun!
-Also ran 2.5 miles Thanksgiving morning with my hubb and pup. Funny thing is I didn't even NOTICE I ran the extra .5 I miscalculated my own laps, how funny is that lol. COOL!!
-Went to the gym Friday ran a super EASY MILE, lol then climbed rope, worked on abs and such.
-Puppy training was a super success, bought a new leash called the "Gentle Leader" and omg if you have a big dog who pulls BUY THE GENTLE LEADER. It is AMAZING! Wish I would have known about it before we spent like 75 bucks on all his other leashes and "no pull" leashes, pft, nothing compares. Really, NOTHING.
-Oh yeah, black Friday!! I was thinking we were going to shop at midnight but everywhere around here (Killeen, TX) seemed to only open up at like 4-5 so it was a bummer because I'm used to back home (Kenosha, WI) going out at midnight, waiting in lines, feeling all loopy from staying up all night! lol but then my friends back home told me the same thing, that malls and stores weren't open until 4-5. Maybe they changed the timing of black Friday everywhere?
-We splurged. Well, we didn't really splurge because my husband desperately needed new clothes and p.t. shoes and of course the new Black Ops game lol. I got an Ipod arm holder for running!! An ear band or whatever they're called, 2 new zip ups, and I did get new shoes but I returned them and will be getting new ones soon, lol. I really should post pictures to make this post more interesting to look at but I'm too lazy for that. Maybe later. OH AND A GPS FINALLY!!
-Oh yeah! and we bought Christmas decorations! Loooove Christmas decorating. and we got a big size Yankee candle, "Cookies For Santa" yummmmm and some other stuff I can't remember right now.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and black Friday shopping!!
-Oh yeah again lol, I'm thinking of reactivating my facebook back up.. ?

FIRST TIME USING AN IPOD WHILE RUNNING!!
Finally figured out how to put music onto my iphone, even without the help of my hubby!! Whom I'm SO glad to be home! :) I made him a juicy corned beef and potatoes and cabbage last night, lol delicious.
Ok so this morning! Ran an EASY two miles with my iphone playing, omg so amazing with music. I would have ran more except Sapper was just not feelin' it today. He kept making my shoulder turn all different ways and making my upper body so uncomfortable and messed up my breathing so my side started hurting bad a couple times. Argh. Oh well! At least I can now say running two miles is easy! Ha!
I've decided once I can run 5 miles then I can call myself a true runner lol. And also it'll show my husband that buying comfy running attire & accessories isn't just one of my impulse expenses lol, because my usual cycle is starting a good workout plan for a while, then stopping and doing nothing for a few weeks, then doing the cycle again, then stopping X100. But I am pretty sure I am finally over the stage of dreading workout, the pain, soreness, etc. Now it feels good! If only I would have waited it out just a little longer all the other times I've tried lol. At least I was still sort of regularly active, with a few pauses inbetween. Plus having this blog and keeping track of my miles is totally motivating, especially reading other people's blogs who write about running all the time and training for marathons- can't wait to get that far!!
I am so excited for Thanksgiving, and black friday shopping!! All I keep thinking about is all the things I can get for running lol AHHHHHH EXCITTTINGGGG!
